As you may have noticed, I haven't written a blog post on here in the past month. This isn't because I don't have anything to say; in fact it's more of the opposite. I have had so many unforgettable travels and experiences the past month, that I'm not sure where to start. Through my company Sir Wylde, I've had the opportunity to travel to San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. In each city I've participated in different trade shows and met different people. I've learned a lot about myself and a lot about starting and running a business, particularly one in the fashion industry. I've made a lot of mistakes and a few good decisions :). It's been an exciting time in my life.
It's this plethora of experience that has motivated me to start writing my blog in a different manner than before. Rather then posting a well-polished blog once or twice a week, I am going to try to post something more raw on a daily basis. Whether this candid post is 200 words long or 1,000, I believe that it will give you (the reader) a greater insight into what running a business is really like. It will also provide the opportunity for me to mention my thoughts on other aspects of life as well as require me to write more frequently.
Bilbo Baggins, the leading character from J.R. Tolkien's timeless novels, said something that I believe applies to this blog's new theme. In the text of one of the novels, he says to his young cousin Frodo, "It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out the door. You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept of to."
It will be interesting to see where my own life will take me. Whatever happens, I hope that I can capture those experiences and lessons learned in this blog here.
Consider this an average man's guide to living a more than adequate life.
